About Me
Welcome on my illustrations Blog.
I am Paula Berger, artist, illustrator and designer in Baden-Württemberg Germany, and I wish to share with you ideas, drawings and/ or techniques, the fruits of over 40 years experience in graphics.
I have liked drawing since I can remember, I am not exactly sure but my mother has an impressive collection from my third year of life.
I like to draw my inspiration from literature, films, theatre, opera, concerts, circus, ballet - all the artistic areas. I like to illustrate films I have watched or create portraits, characters.
In my childhood I dreamed of entering the books' plots and participating in the main events, talking to the characters, making friends or warning them against what I had known was going to happen. I used to dream about them after every film I watched. At night, before going to bed I prepared my own follow-up, the second part where I would mingle and take part in the action like a heroine or a good fairy.
Years later I have watched Kurosawa's movie I I thought his journey into the paintings was very familiar :-) I would imagine entering the TV as Kurosawa entered the paintings.
I was extremely lucky to be born and evolve in a cultural environment, created by my mother and grandmother- together with my sister we lived in a house fill of books, attended every theatre and opera show available and all the concerts taking place in Iasi (European cultural capital in 2021) .
I had the great chance to meet Real personalities, the True figures of Romanian culture who inspired me and served as life models (but about that in a different chapter),
II also enjoy the present days, the opening offered by the internet and the social networks, the freedom of writing one's ideas and thoughts on the blog, of presenting photos and works. I would love it if this blog is visited and read, for me it means an archive of what I have accomplished.
Enjoy reading !
